Best vegan restaurant I've visited! - Edit
This is genuinely the best vegan restaurant I've ever visited. I'm vegan and coeliac, so finding a fully vegan and gluten-free restaurant was like a dream come true.
Read moreFirstly, the restaurant itself is so uniquely and beautifully decorated. Every wall and ceiling was wonderful, especially the giant octopus downstairs! The whole place had a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
The wonderful owners, George and Katie, were super happy and friendly, and were clearly very passionate about their restaurant and food (quite rightly so!).
Our favourite dishes were the Salt and Pepper Oyster Mushrooms (a weekly special), Crispy Cow-Kanu Salad, Teriyaki Crispy Tofu Bites, Fiesta Chick-Kanu and Waffle, Mochi Doughnut Balls, and Ice Cream. They were all faultless. Our only regret was not being able to try even more of their food!
In the open kitchen, you could see them making the dishes from scratch using fresh ingredients. All of the meat alternatives, ice creams, sodas and even the coffee syrups were made in-house. What other restaurant does that?! George talked us through their magical process for transforming textured vegetable protein into absolutely delicious meat alternatives. You could taste all of the freshness and passion in every bite.
We enjoyed it so much that we drove another hour each way the very next day to enjoy even more of their delicious food! Our second visit was just as perfect as our first one.
Thank you so much George, Katie and the wonderful Kanu Poke team! We cannot wait to return very soon.

All vegan menu with huge choice of starters poke bowls and mains. Also a good choice of drinks and cocktails. We our non vegan family we went with also loved it. The place is very nicely and quirkily decorated. It was very busy and bank holiday weekend, definitely needed to book. The portions are large and we felt good value for money

It’s very cute inside. Lots of choices on the menu. I had the chicken and waffles and my friend who isn’t vegan had a poke bowl. She said it was one of the best things she’d ever eaten. Mine was delicious too. We had dessert, brownie was a bit dry but tasty. Lovely drinks and cocktails too. We sat upstairs in the window. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Really tasty, very good quality, fresh, vibrant, ample portions and beautifully presented each time. So much to choose from. I really do like eating at this venue; it's a real treat!

Booked a table and travelled a long way for this fully vegan, gluten and nut free restaurant. Service was friendly, atmosphere and decor were amazing, food was full of flavour and colour. Hope the locals look after this independent couple run business, but will happily travel again and again. I was so happy and excited over this meal and it was just what I needed. We weren't rushed and ended up having three courses with sides over 2.5 hours, so this would be a good choice for a special occasion or group. They had a great selection of alcohol free drinks and desserts, which is largely lacking elsewhere.

I had the fake beef poke bowl which was perfect, really good fake meat sub and perfect fresh toppings to go with it. My table also had the tofu poke bowl and curry noodles both of which were great. The pandan, Coconut and lime soda was one of the best drinks ive ever tasted. The pickled shitake mushrooms and homemade kinchi were tasty, only thing i thought was a bit average was the chicken popper starter, was okay but not the most crispy/flavourful. Couldnt recommend more, decoration and cosy ambience was wonderful.

Everything about this place is excellent, from the imaginative menu to the stunning decor. Totally vegan with a large choice of starters, mains and desserts as well as their home made sodas, all absolutely gorgeous. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Can't recommend it highly enough. Looking forward to our next visit even though we live nearly an hour away.
