Deli & cafe in Lincoln’s Cathedral Quarter since 2017. Makes coffee and chai drinks, all-vegan bakery treats and cakes, savory foods like full English breakfast, curries, salads and burgers. Everything is vegan apart from dairy milk option for drinks. Breakfast and lunch menu during weekdays (9am-3.30pm), Brunch on Sundays (10am-2.30pm). Open Mon-Tue 09:00-17:00, Thu-Sat 09:00-17:00. Closed Sun-Mon. Hot food until 3.30pm Tue-Sat.

I had the deli breakfast and my husband had the potato hash. Both were delicious. The tofu scramble and potato cakes were particularly outstanding but every element was excellent and made with great care. This place should be listed as fully vegan.

Excellent food. Locally and seasonally sourced where possible. Friendly welcome. Super location not far from either Castle or Cathedral at the top of Lincoln's Steep Hill. A good portion served up, also do take-out.

We had a lovely lunch here. We had the soup, the salad and the burger and everything was really delicious. Good portion sizes and everything in the salad was super fresh. Friendly staff and a super convenient location. Not a huge amount of seating but there are outdoors tables and they also do take away.

The welcome received from staff was lovely. The deli was busy but we had a lovely chat with the owner & he was so helpful finding a table for the 4 of us. Our soups and Dahl were 5 star and good portion sized too. We took some carrot cake home-moist,tasty and delicious

We visited during a steampunk convention, which meant it was extremely busy. They dealt with it well and were very polite and attentive. I had the bao buns on the first day and the lentil Dahl on the next. Both were delicious and filling, and the owner made sure to come over and speak to us which was nice. I’d highly recommend this place.

I cannot believe we’ve lived here for eighteen months and not tried the food here. I’m not a big ‘fast food’ eater and would normally avoid fries like the Black Death, but the Katsu and Tofu loaded fries spoke to me so I indulged. Amazing spices, beautiful flavours, so much taste. And Mr wonderful had the leek and potato soup and was blown away, and then finished my fries. Hoping to become a regular. Nice to find somewhere with such a stock of vegan supplies too. AND THEY DO TAKEOUT. BONUS.

Bailgate Deli is in between Lincoln Cathedral and the Castle. The menu was varied and it was great to have so many freshly made things on offer.

I had a pastry filled with mushrooms and miso with fries and coleslaw. The portion was so generous that I took half of the pastry home to eat the next day!
The staff were great and service was efficient.
I would be a regular here if only I lived nearer.

I was overwhelmed by choice! It’s a small café with four staff working effortlessly to produce and serve high quality, flavoursome vegan food. I opted for the lunchtime summer curry which was light but filling and absolutely delicious. Everyone else’s food in the café looked amazing. Highly recommended.
